Christian Daily International - About Us
Christian Daily International provides biblical, factual and personal news, stories and perspectives from every region, focusing on religious freedom, integrated gospel and other issues that are relevant to the global Church today.
It is the vision of a group of Christian people, followers of Jesus, who are committed to professional journalism that is full of grace and truth (Jesus is described in that way- John 1:14).
CDI is an exciting new initiative that is:
CHRISTIAN
Believing in the revealing initiative of God the Father, the redeeming work of God the Son and the transforming ministry of God the Holy Spirit, CDI ascribes to the World Evangelical Alliance’s Statement of Faith.
CDI aims to cover gaps in the global news cycle that will be of special interest to people of faith.
DAILY
Given the 24-hour news cycle to which we have all become accustomed, CDI believes that a daily online international Christian newspaper can make an invaluable contribution. In this fast-changing world, CDI wants to capture the news and help people of faith to interpret the world from Christian perspectives.
INTERNATIONAL
Most of today's Christian media is national, based in a particular country. Even international news in most Christian media is written by foreign reporters – CDI on the other hand lets journalists and editors from different regions and countries tell the stories. CDI is built on a global platform from the start, with national journalists and editors in multiple regions of the world.
CDI is convinced that we are globally connected at two levels.
Firstly, all of us globally, each made in the image of God, share a common planet, with common challenges and opportunities. (Isaiah 61:1)
Secondly, those of us who are Christians are part of the Family of God, the Body of Christ. (1 Cor. 12:12-14)
CDI’s stories of faith around the world inform and edify, inspire and challenge. The Bible puts it like this ‘Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land’ (Proverbs 25:25).
Areas of Focus
CDI has three primary areas of focus: Integrated Gospel, Religious Freedom, and Christian Unity.
Integrated Gospel
includes Christians sharing their faith in word and deed – proclaiming the good news of life and hope in Jesus, building new communities of faith in Jesus, providing relief, contributing to development, caring for creation, addressing the needs of the poor and disadvantaged, and addressing issues of social justice. (Matthew 4:23) CDI affirms the convictions expressed in the Lausanne Covenant and the Cape Town Commitment.
Religious Freedom
is a core human right, as defined in Article 18 of the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
"Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."
CDI promotes religious freedom for all. As a publication, we are totally committed to freedom of religion for all, even though as a Christian publication we are especially covering news about the persecution of Christians.
Christian Unity
The Bible speaks about the importance of Christian unity for effective Christian witness – Jesus prayed for that the night He died (John 17: 21-23). CDI is therefore supportive of unity movements like the World Evangelical Alliance and others.
