French-speaking gospel music artists have been lauded for their hard work at the second edition of the “Shine Gospel Awards” held in the 3,500-seat Cité Royale, the main church of the ICC (Impact Centre Chrétien) in Croissy-Beaubourg, just outside the eastern side of Paris in France.
The event held on Dec. 6 (2024) promoted the gospel in the French-speaking music scene and recognised Christian gospel music artists, labels and related professionals for their efforts. It follows the first Shine Gospel Awards held in December last year, 2023.
"All these musical and artistic performances were an act of worship for Jesus," said co-host Tim On The Gram [sic], co-host and co-master of ceremonies with Sabrina Bandundi, as reported by Livenet. "We really put on a fantastic show. There were various stage and programme items.
“Some were rather simple, others more colorful and there were also intense moments of worship. There was something for every taste."
Tim On The Gram explained that the artists were the focus of the event but the main attention was given to Jesus Christ.
"It was important to us that the performances were ultimately an expression of worship of Jesus," he added.
A LinkedIn description for the event explained the need to raise the profile of French gospel music, currently not so well known to the general French public, alongside revealing new talents and vocational calling for the music artists involved.
“An evening where artists, music and emotions meet to celebrate the gospel!” stated a publicity blurb for the event on Facebook.
12 categories were chosen to honor artists, labels and others involved in the French gospel scene, throughout the evening. Results were decided by a panel of experts and also a public vote.
