The Federación Alianza Evangélica Costarricense (FAEC) has launched “Clamando Unidos en Costa Rica” (Crying Out Together in Costa Rica), a challenge to pray 24 hours a day during the whole month of July and have virtual and in-person meetings once a day to pray for the country with one heart.
Ronald Vargas, chairman of FAEC, explained that the Evangelical Alliance is “truly concerned” about femicides and acts of violence against women taking place more and more often in the Central American nation. “As a church, we cannot be quiet. We need to do something. That is why Clamando Unidos en Costa Rica is a prayer project” initiated by the FAEC.
Pastor Magda Ramírez, of the women’s network of the Evangelical Alliance, noted, “we want our young ladies to live. We want them not to suffer domestic violence. We want our children to live in peace.”
“We have done this in the past, when we organized a march for children, and we mobilized the church,” added Vargas at the first prayer meeting.
The proposal is to pray from July 1-31 online on social media and also “to meet in different places to hold events in person” with the goal of “getting together as church, because the Word of God says that, if two agree on anything here on earth, it will be done by our Father in heaven”, said the chairman of FAEC.
“Our pastors’ fellowship has felt the need to cry out for our nation”, said pastor Esteban Cerdas. “When we read the news, there is always a murder, a femicide, situations of violence in families.” Clamando Unidos en Costa Rica “allows us to cry out to the Lord in faith, knowing that He answers our prayers”, Cerdas said.
