At the initiative of the Chilean ministry “Evangelio Creativo” (Creative Gospel), a group of children and pre-teens participated in a simulation of their first missionary trip in the city of Concepción, Chile. The activity included a time of preparation, a simulated arrival in a foreign country with passport and immigration checks, and training for outreach.
The preparation featured a basic Portuguese class and familiarization with tools they would use on the Amazon River to reach people who have not yet heard about Jesus.
The children arrived early in the morning, checked in, and began their simulated journey to Brazil. During the activity, they were greeted by a flight attendant and a pilot, then passed through Immigration by presenting their passports.
Upon arriving in the simulated country, the children learned about how the Gospel is practiced there. They noted that 25% of the population professes the evangelical faith. Throughout the day, they participated in various activities, including studying the plan of salvation, improving their Portuguese language skills, and learning sign language with the aim of broadening their evangelism knowledge and outreach.
After lunch, the participants prepared their missionary boats to embark on a simulated journey through the Amazon Rainforest, a remote region in Brazil that missionaries from around the world endeavor to reach.
“During the afternoon, through three workshops tailored to their age groups, they were introduced to the plan of salvation in Spanish, explaining its meaning and the reason why Jesus came to the world to offer us the gift of salvation; in Portuguese, focusing on how to evangelize someone who speaks a different language from ours; and finally, in sign language, learning how to communicate with individuals with hearing disabilities,” the ministry shared on social media.
Even the youngest participants, aged 5 years and under, had the opportunity to experience what it means to be a missionary. Through activities tailored to their level of understanding and abilities, they learned about the role of a missionary and what missionaries do, as well as about the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil.
